Eye & the Arrow

Although this blog entry has no visuals, Eye & the Arrow is a Denver band to watch...closely!

After experiencing live shows and listening to this EP on repeat I still can't figure out what makes this trio work so well. Perhaps its Paul's fresh yet familiar melodies meshed with a drumming style only Mark can claim. The rhythm exchanges between all (Jason on bass!) happen rather unexpectedly. The final song of the set "Stutter Beat" is a good example of uncatchable rhythms and swirling notes that make for moments of uncertainty of where it all might land. But it does, gracefully, leaving you wanting another go around.

Patrick Dethlefs

A camera was forgotten for Patrick Dethlefs' performance at the station last Friday but here's to a poor quality phone photo taken during his performance at the Fox!

Patrick is truly a natural on stage and over the air waves. The Local Shakedown can't wait to have him back for his album release in June.

More importantly, stream Patrick's performance and interview!

Ramaya Soskin and Dana Raabe

Wow. Boulder's own Ramaya Soskin and Dana Raabe performed a flawless set tonight on The Local Shakedown. They executed perfect harmonies and locked into an unbroken rhythm from the first downbeat until the last breath. The kind of singing that fills my arms with goosebumps and made my eyes all watery...this is good stuff.

The last song performed, "Heartbreaker" earned the duo a spot in the coveted Aspen Songwriters Festival happening this March.

Catch Ramaya and Dana tonight at Shine and at the Fox with other local favorites March 3rd!
